If there is a model number on it, Google it for instructions.

so sorry to hear about you remote……. to tune your old universal remote, you need the remote of the device you want to control… i.e. you need your actual tv remote to tune the universal remote……
so a better option for you is to buy a new remote for your self…. or you can find some one who uses the same tv set as you do…. n tune your universal remote from his remote.

Unfortunately universal types rarely provide tuning functions but only basic functions like channels, volume, on/off and text. For tuning functions you will require an original or replacement branded type if these functions are not available from the front of the set. Incidentally a sky remote is also a universal type and some sets will just plainly not work at all with universals due to different code transmission.
Provide a make and model number and it will be easier to find one for you at a reasonable price.
If you just want to use it for the basic functions google the brand name of the remote for codes or the search method if the code is not known. Alternatively try an old sky remote.

Visit the website of the company that manufactured the remote you have. Once there search for the model number as relates to the operating instructions. Then search for the codes for your TV. If your replacement remote is older than your TV you might have to experiment with the listed codes for the manufacturer of your TV to find one that works. If you strike out and they have a contact address you should email them for help. Chances are the company will have an updated list and will be able to furnish a working code number to you by return email. A long shot would be the company that manufactured your TV or a local repair center that specializes in repairs for that particular TV. Another possibility would be to Google your remote model number. Unfortunately you might get numerous hits most of which could lead to time consuming dead ends.
